Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team in a leadership capacity. The ideal candidate is a proactive and strategic HR professional who will lead and oversee key HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, HR compliance, policy development, and payroll oversight. This role will be instrumental in fostering a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with Canadian labour laws, and supporting organizational growth. This position will be the HR lead for the Hospitality team of OVG at TD Coliseum, working closely with the Hospitality GM and partnering with the Venue HR management team as needed.
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing support to managers and employees regarding HR policies and practices, researching and/or investigating concerns and making recommendations that promote positive employee relations. Main area of responsibility is to serve as a resource to management and employees in solving day-to-day workplace matters.
This includes conducting workplace investigations and recommending effective solutions and corrective actions in accordance with policy and applicable laws, as well as advising on performance management.
This role pays an annual salary of $75,000-$85,000 CAD

Responsibilities
Counsel, guide, and educate managers for optimal performance and resolution of complex employee relations and performance management/discipline matters
Provide non-routine HR Policy consultation, guidance and interpretation for employees, and managers
Respond to and resolve employee complaints regarding policy violations, such as allegations of discrimination, harassment, and other work related issues originating from the employee hotline and other sources
Conduct investigations and prepare relevant documentation, partnering with Security, Audit, and Employment Legal as appropriate.
Recommend appropriate resolution of complaints, develop action plans and follow up to ensure completion
Coach and advise managers on performance management and discipline matters; ensure documentation is in place and strategize appropriate corrective action steps. Review draft performance improvement plans prior to delivery to the employee
Consult and review involuntary terminations. Collaborate with HR Business Partners, ER COE and/or line of business leadership as required to properly mitigate risk
Develop position statements in response to local, Provincial or federal labour complaints, charges, audits and other legal matters. May represent the company for unemployment claims and appeals
Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable Canadian federal and provincial labour laws (e.g., ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code)
Lead HR projects and initiatives that drive employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness
Escalate higher level HR issues to the Regional HRBP for OVG360, for counsel, guidance and awareness
Lead end-to-end recruitment and staffing strategies to attract top talent, including workforce planning, job postings, screening, interviewing, and offer management
Oversee the onboarding and orientation process to ensure a seamless transition for new employees and alignment with company culture and values
Scheduling and Roster Management: Support department management with tools for scheduling for 500+ employees, coordinate staffing for events and conducting adjustment as needed
Uniform Management: Support Department Managers with uniform distribution and compliance
Review dashboard metrics daily to optimize productivity and ensure work is completed in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs)
Qualifications
Established working knowledge of all aspects of human resources, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, employee relations and labour relations, talent acquisition, leadership development, talent management, training and organizational development, change management, and organizational dynamics
Proficiency in compliance, specifically Ontario provincial labour laws, and other regulations relevant to the business environment
Should exhibit the ability and personal accountability to effectively network and navigate through organizational relationships and work in a matrixed environment
Work independently to analyze data and provide management with constructive recommendations
Has experience in public speaking and delivering presentations to different audiences
5+ years of experience in HR generalist or related experience
Proficiency in ADP WorkforceNow and Microsoft Office Suite
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
CHRP or CHRL designation (or in progress) is preferred
